NEXT Steps Signature Community Involvement Growth Strategy
Just one week ago, NEXT Steps and STEAM America engaged in talks of forming a partnership to strengthen our abilities to deliver quality STEM++ education to students in the DC area. And then….the Baltimore riots broke.
A dire sense of urgency overcame both our organizations to expedite the development of a custom Community Involvement Growth Strategy for the kids screaming out for help and better leadership in that area.
Our Theory Of Change
Our goal over the next 60-90 days is to develop and deploy our NEW! STEM++ pipeline management and candidate tracking system called STEM++ Direct. STEM++ Direct will collect and report youth achievement in STEM++ applications and convert it to comparable skills required to create and/or secure internships, apprenticeships and mentorships. This will empower youth with an understanding of the value of their current skillset with giving them a real social change platform they have demanded in Baltimore.
Development of STEAM America’s CIGS Model
NEXT Steps is actively seeking investors from three communities to secure funding and resources:
- MOUs with non-profit organizations that specialize in STEM++ training and education
- Service agreements with individuals to serve as Community Resource Champions
- Long-term (3-5 year) funding commitments by STEM++ Education philanthropists committed to developing accurate TREND data and building Accountable Care Communities
About NEXT Steps CIGS Model
The CIGS Model was created by NEXT Steps Founder D. Jewel Harris while serving as a Logistics Specialist in the U.S. Army. Her CIGS Model has been an efficient tool used to help executive and project management teams focus on a single mission while simplifying and streamlining team operations, roles and responsibilities, and internal/external communications for improved output. Over the past eight years, the NEXT Steps Youth Entrepreneur Program (www.nextstepsyep.org) has evolved to provide custom Community Involvement Growth Strategies (CIGS) for organizations that deliver STEM++ education, youth entrepreneur training, career mentoring and service learning opportunities for at-risk Millennials.
