- Community Involvement Growth Strategy (CIGS) Model Planning Toolkit
You will learn how to use our signature Community Involvement Growth Strategy (CIGS) Model as a learning tool to conduct a community assessment using three priority stages:
Priority Stage 1. Assessment
- Gain an understanding of all the major potential sources of positive and negative socio-economic conditions and environmental concerns
- Look at the routes of exposure to a particular socio-economic condition,
- Estimate cumulative impact
- Understand sensitivities or vulnerabilities of the affected population.
- Develop a qualitative comparison
Priority Stage 2. Implementation
- Conduct a feasibility study
- Document interest and commitment of key stakeholders to affect a particular change,
- Determine the potential to leverage local efforts and new sources of funding,
- Estimate and project the momentum to be gained through the completion of a work-based learning project
- Incorporate the relevant resources from the Local Contributor Network and other potential risk reduction activities to successfully implement an impact solution
Priority Stage 3. Measurement & Evaluation
- Use Community On Demand skills assessment tools and other training materials to track and evaluate the changes (before and after results) of your environmental health status and skills development
- Create presentation models to effectively and clearly communicate how you defined the nature and extent of the problems in your community
- Determine what the biggest/most serious problems in your community are
- Create a compilation of your findings to creatively publicize the biggest or most serious problems in your community (special events, workshops, fairs, cooking demos, etc.)
- Conclude if your efforts and impact solutions were successful and what your next steps should be to sustain and build upon them
Deliverables
- Greater equity of access to learning and employment opportunities
- Learning ecosystem more coordinated (i.e. increased numbers of co-designed and partnered skills development activities, work-based experiences, resource allocations and real world leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving and team-building opportunities)
- Resources for learning programs increasingly optimized (i.e. increased number of funding and resources)
- Education, workforce, and other policies and programs considering equity, game-based learning, and digital micro-credentialing platforms
- Increased use of data to inform how to allocate resources to support innovative youth programs like Community On Demand
- Strong coordination within local learning ecosystems
- Stable funding for local Community On Demand initiative and learning ecosystems
- Learning ecosystem uses data as a strategic tool to optimize impact of programs and resources
