We’re Getting Stronger!!!
In an effort to grow and strengthen our capacity to serve, NEXT Steps has been meeting with principals and school administrators as well as attending workshops to better qualify for local, state and federal educational funding opportunities.
First, we finally cleared the vetting process to become official Title I vendors, became officially registered as service providers for DeKalb and Fulton County, and are clearing the hurdle to attain Level III Volunteer status for Atlanta Public Schools. We also attended Congressman Hank Johnson’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Forum; Doing Business With The Federal Government Workshop on May 8th @ Georgia Perimeter College.
Becoming eligible as a DBE will be extremely helpful in supporting our new STEM++ Direct joint venture partnership with Club E Atlanta. As a matter of fact, all of these major administrative accomplishments will allow NEXT Steps, Club E Atlanta, and STEM++ Direct to be included in the School Improvement and Continuing Improvement Plans of all the schools that we serve. This new level of growth gives us the freedom and authority to secure resources for our STEM++ education and training programs on behalf of the schools and strengthens our capacity-building capabilities in our roles as Community Outreach Coordinators, STEM++ educators, and non-traditional community-based business partners (via MOU, etc.).
