About This Project
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Ms. Motel teaches students with learning disabilities that include mild to moderate autism and Downs syndrome (ages 15-20). She created a donorschoose.org campaign to purchase alternative seating equipment to create a more project-based and flexible learning environment. As part of their independent living program, she believes adjustable seating will assist in creating learning environments that will help her kids focus better on their individual life goals as they prepare to graduate high school.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
The Focus On STEAM
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]We were fascinated by her focus on the STEAM skills her kids will gain as they complete their independent living program in her class, so we created a digital badge collection that reflected each skill she highlighted:
• Completing a task independently (Takes Initiative)
• Communicating with a friend (Effective Communicator)
• Taking charge of their learning (Leadership)
• Making seating choices that work best for them (Culture)
• Creating “work stations” and collaboration areas (Workplace)
• Filling out resume’s (Resumes & Cover Letters)
• Conducting “interviews” (Mock Interviews)[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
How Digital Badges & Skillcoin Rewards Work
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Digital badges are symbols that reflect the value of high demand STEAM skills from student achievement. They are also used as crowdfunding tools that promote student achievement and reward them for creating impact solutions that benefit their community.
Once sponsored, digital badge funding is divided into three funding pools:
• Student Stipend Fund – 30% of sponsorship
• Impact Project Fund – 40% of sponsorship
• CoD Network Fund – 30% of sponsorship[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”87088″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Digital badges are displayed on STEAM Education eGift Cards, which work just like gift certificates, and can be shared and sponsored through social media networks.
Use the donation form on the right to:
- Sponsor the STEAM skill(s) you want these kids to gain as they complete this project
- Share this page with your social media networks and ask them to sponsor a badge
- Visit our Pop Shop and purchase the trading cards or booster set for that STEAM skill series
- Ask friends and followers to purchase and play The Community On Demand STEAM Education & Trading Card Game with you

How To Become A Digital Badge Sponsor
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Question:
How would hiring managers use the Alternative Seating digital badge collection to employ Ms. Motel’s students?[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Go To Forum” color=”warning” align=”left” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fatlanta-the-alt-seating-project|||”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1564709754134{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #f9f9f9 !important;}”]
