DeKalb Back To School Beautification Days! – Aug 1st & 8th

Join the NEW! DeKalb Sustainable Neighborhoods Initiative (DSNI) Community Connections Volunteer Program to support the Columbia, McNair, Towers and Cross Keys High School Clusters. Students can earn digital badges and skillcoins when they learn how to deploy high-tech products and mobile apps that connect students and educators with local businesses.

Atwood Community Garden Club @ Kittredge Park

The Atwood Community Garden Club @ Kittredge Park will have garden training on Sundays 8-10a and communal gardening activities weekly on Sundays from 2-4pm . Garden Club meetings are held the 4th Sunday of every month at 2pm. NOTE: All Sunday garden activities are held from 5-7p during super sunny summer days.

9th Annual FIRED UP! 5K Run/Walk For STEM++ Education

Runners and spectators will enjoy the traditions of the 9th Annual FirED Up! 5K Run/Walk. The event takes us along a scenic route through the eclectic Virginia Highlands community. Afterwards, runners enjoy cooling off by the misting sprays of Atlanta Fire Engine 19! Proceeds fund college scholarships for eligible Grady and Washington High School graduating seniors.

DISCBOTS FIRST Robotics Team #6023 – Stronghold Competition (Dalton, GA)

Congratulations and best wishes go out to the DISCBOTS FIRST Robotics Team #6023 of the DeKalb International Student Center.  They are currently headed to Dalton, GA to compete in the official game animation for the 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition called FIRST STRONGHOLD. We are looking for mentors to help strengthen this multi-lingual, multi-cultural team's business presentation and work space management skills. With over 35 members from 10 countries with 19 languages, our communication challenges are real! We also need corporate sponsors and STEM++ professionals to help organize and expand their inventory management system.  Our fundraising goal is $25,000 ($6,000 has already been raised!).

Tri-Cities Aerotropolis College Town (Launch Event)

NEXT Steps will recruit and train 250 volunteers to become Compassion Ambassadors for the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia. Compassion Ambassadors will gain hospitality and tourism training through the volunteer coordination staff of the Sickle Cell Foundation and Full Circle Media Group. This event will launch our Tri-Cities Aerotropolis College Town project of our Full Circle Arts & Technology Initiative.
